Goat Yoga FAQs

1. I'm not flexible/I've never done yoga before! Will I be able to participate?
While we do actual yoga in class, I make sure to make our practice appropriate for all levels of ability (no backbends or headstands!). We do move from seated to standing poses, so ideally you're able to move unassisted between poses. Many times, Boise Goat Yoga is a person's first introduction to yoga, and it peaks their interest in exploring more yoga classes because it feels so good!

2. What should I bring with me to class?
Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, and be prepared for it to get a little "earthy!" We do have extra yoga mats available for your use! We offer filtered water and hot tea, as well as a full bathroom, hand washing stations, hand sanitizer, and sunscreen.

3. I can't make it to the class I have a ticket for. What should I do?
Ticket holders can request to reschedule or refund up to 5 days before your ticketed class; no refunds 0-5 days before the event. Rescheduling requests may be considered but cannot be guaranteed. If you can't make it to class, consider finding a friend to pass along your ticket to! Make sure everyone attending the class fills out the waiver and has proof of purchase at the time of class.

4. How big is a class?
We limit class size to 20 people [+/- 5]. Our classes take place on about 1/4 acre of open grassy lawn, so there is plenty of space to spread out!

5. How do I redeem my Gift Certificate?
If you received a gift certificate as a gift, take a look at upcoming class availability and then use the code on your gift certificate to book your spot! Gift Certificates are only good for community classes and may not be redeemed for special events or private parties. Gift Certificates are non-refundable and expire at the end of the season for which it was purchased (no exceptions).

6. Can children attend a class?
Children are welcome as long as they can stay on their yoga mat for the duration of the yoga portion of class. We know it's tempting to chase the goats or explore the trampoline, so if your little ones are too wiggly to stay on their mat for yoga (about 40 minutes), we ask that they stay home. It is too distracting to have children moving around or trailing the animals during class.

7. Can I book a private event for my friends/coworkers/bridal party/family?
Absolutely! We love private parties. To learn more, read about booking your private party

8. Do the goats jump on top of you?
Not our goats! Our goats, while "pygmys," are still too big to climb on top of you. When we have a chance to feed the goats by hand at the end of our yoga practice, the goats will place their front hooves on you. They'll also likely nibble on your shoulders, arms and neck during class. It tickles!

9. What if goats freak me out?
This might not be the class for you! However, if you're willing to trust that our animals are calm, gentle, and love people, please give it a try! If you tell me or my assistant that you'd prefer not to have a goat "love on you" too much, let us know. We'll do our best to redirect them away from your mat. However, when you attend a class, you understand that you'll have close contact with the animals.

10. Am I guaranteed interaction with the goats?
You bet! The goats are friendly and LOVE to interact with people. However, it's impossible to know where their attention will stray at any point during class. Your spot will be prepared with fresh alfalfa for them to munch on and entice them over, but as with any creature, their attention spans and idiosyncrasies are anyone's guess! If you feel you didn't get enough goat contact during the yoga portion, don't worry! After our ~40 minute yoga practice, you have plenty of opportunity to hand-feed the goats and get as many snuggles and photo ops as you want!

11. What if the goats poop on my yoga mat?
If this happens, you get the "gold star!" Don't worry, the poop is little balls that roll right off your mat with a quick shake, and we offer sanitizing spray for your mat, or a fresh mat if you need it.

12. What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily (consider layers on cloudy/windy days), and wear shoes that you can easily slip on and off. We will do yoga barefoot, but will cross the lawn to get to our mats. We suggest sunscreen for exposed skin, and we always offer sunscreen at class, too. Please note: the goats will nibble on sweatshirt strings, shoelaces, and sometimes long hair. We suggest having as few "adornments" as possible.

13. Will I get dirty?
You might! But you'll leave clean. Our classes are held outside on a meticulously maintained grassy lawn. The usual suspects of dirt, leaves, goat poop and grass will be present, as well as some possible goat slobber from your hand-feeding encounter. However, after your experience, we offer a foot-washing station, hand washing station, and hand sanitizer in addition to a full bathroom. We also clean your mats at the end of class for you, with a hose and our handmade, all-natural essential oil cleansing spray (which is also available for purchase!)

14. How many goats do you have?
We have 6 amazing goats! Each one has their own personality and offers something different to each class. Our 5 Pygmy goats are Captain, Henry, Daphne, Star, and Oak. Our Nigerian Dwarf is Dakota. If you can name them all, you'll get a prize!

15. I bought my ticket. When will I receive the details for class?
You will receive a detailed email 5-7 days before your class date. If you are within this window and have not received an email, check your Spam folders. You can also find all the information here
